Keap Street Update: No Bomb or Threat Found; Bomb Squad and ESU Leave as Roads Reopen
By Williamsburg 365 Staff
A major emergency response on Keap Street has de-escalated after NYPD Bomb Squad, ESU, and Fire Marshals spent the afternoon investigating suspicious items discovered inside the fire-damaged building at 227 Keap Street.
What initially appeared to be bomb-related pipes were examined by the Bomb Squad and determined to be harmless and unrelated to any threat. Following the all-clear, the street was reopened to traffic, and most emergency units have since left the scene.
This comes just hours after a devastating early-morning fire tore through the building, leaving one individual critically injured and several others treated for smoke inhalation.
While the Bomb Squad and ESU have cleared out, FDNY Fire Marshals remain on site as they continue their active investigation into the cause of the fire.
