Massive Fire at 227 Keap Street Brought Under Control; Massive Heimish Volunteer Response Praised
By Williamsburg 365 Staff
A fire that broke out earlier on the fourth floor of 227 Keap Street has now been brought under control, following a swift and coordinated response by the FDNY, Hatzolah, and a large contingent of heimishe volunteers.
During the incident, one individual suffered critical injuries after jumping from the fourth floor in an attempt to escape the flames. Hatzolah transported the patient to the hospital in serious condition. Several others were treated for smoke-related issues.
Witnesses described the scene as a kiddush Hashem, noting the tremendous professionalism, calm, and efficiency displayed by the many Hatzolah volunteers who arrived to assist. Their rapid response helped manage residents, provide support, and maintain order throughout the emergency, together with FDNY, NYPD, and Shomrim. No names for Tehilim were needed.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. Further updates will follow as additional information becomes available.
