A new floating pool is set to make waves in the East River, providing a unique recreational spot for New Yorkers.

Shaped like a plus sign, this innovative pool will draw water directly from the river, filtering it to ensure a clean and refreshing swimming experience.

Today, Mayor Eric Adams and Governor Kathy Hochul announced that they are moving forward with the project, which aims to enhance the city's waterfront attractions.

Mayor adams tweeted: We're really transforming our waterways in New York City! Proud to announce alongside Governor Hochul the next step in our plan to test the feasibility of a filtered floating pool at Pier 35 near the Lower East Side."

Governor Hochul said, "A part of our historic NY SWIMS initiative, this first-of-its-kind facility will expand access to swimming and provide a safe space for kids and their families to beat the heat.."

While the announcement marks a significant milestone, officials noted that it will still take a few years before the floating pool becomes a reality.
