G Train Service Changes Planned in May for Track Work

By Y.M. Lowy

The MTA has announced several upcoming service changes on the G train during May, affecting both weeknights and a full weekend as crews carry out track maintenance and station upgrades.

During weeknights from May 4 through May 8, there will be no G service between Hoyt-Schermerhorn Streets Station and Church Avenue Station. Trains will run in two sections, and riders will need to transfer at Bedford-Nostrand Avenues Station to continue their trips. Commuters heading to several stops along the route are advised to use the F train as an alternative.

Additional changes are scheduled for May 26 through May 28, when there will be no G service between Bedford-Nostrand Avenues and Court Square Station. Shuttle buses will replace service along that stretch, with extended overnight service to 21st Street–Queensbridge Station during certain hours.

A major weekend disruption is also planned from May 29 through June 1 due to ADA accessibility upgrades at Classon Avenue Station. During that time, G service will only run between Court Square and Bedford-Nostrand Avenues, with no service further south. Shuttle buses will operate between Bedford-Nostrand and Hoyt-Schermerhorn Streets, making stops along the route and connecting riders to other subway lines.

Riders are encouraged to plan ahead and check for updates using the MTA website, the MyMTA app, or by calling 511 for real-time service information.
