DOT to Halt Road Work Before Purim and Pesach
By Y.M. Lowy
As reported on Williamsburg365, Williamsburg residents have voiced frustration over recent road closures, particularly on Erev Shabbos. With Purim and Pesach approaching, every blocked street causes disruptions that impact the entire neighborhood.
In response, Rabbi Naftuli Moshe Indig of WJCC met with Pinny Ringel and NYC DOT Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez to address these concerns. During the meeting, Ringel emphasized the importance of avoiding road work on Taanis Esther, Purim, and the week leading up to Pesach.
Thanks to his efforts, along with the support of Mayor Eric Adams, Fred Kreizman, Commissioner of the Community Affairs Unit (CAU), and DOT officials acknowledged the significance of these holidays and agreed to postpone all non-essential construction during this time. Additionally, enforcement inspectors will be stationed in the area to monitor and prevent unauthorized work or street closures, ensuring smoother traffic flow for the community. Williamsburg residents extend their appreciation to Mayor Adams, Commissioner Rodriguez, and Commissioner Kreizman for their attention to this important matter.
