Williamsburg Shomrim members had a busy 24 hours, assisting police in several incidents that led to multiple arrests.

One of the most serious incidents involved an 8-year-old child who was struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run crash at the intersection of Harrison Avenue and Union Street. The child was reported to be in stable condition. The driver fled the scene immediately after the collision, but was later spotted by Shomrim volunteers within the confines of the 79th Precinct. After receiving the information, NYPD officers located and arrested the suspect at Kosciuszko Street and Marcy Avenue.

In a separate incident, Shomrim responded to a call regarding a forced entry on Broadway and Hewes Street. A male suspect was found inside a basement. Following a search of the area, Shomrim members located the individual near Hooper Street and South 4th Street. NYPD officers responded and placed the suspect under arrest.

Another call brought volunteers to the area of Bedford Avenue and Myrtle Avenue, where a man armed with a stick was threatening and menacing Jewish pedestrians. The incident is being investigated as a possible hate crime. After canvassing the area for approximately 10 minutes, Shomrim members located the suspect and alerted police, who arrested him at the scene.

Later, at approximately 3 a.m., Shomrim received a report that cases of food intended for morning deliveries to local stores had been stolen from a truck. Volunteers tracked down the suspect near Marcy Avenue and Middleton Street, where NYPD officers took the individual into custody.
