Williamsburg Leaders Endorse Governor Hochul, Attorney General James and Comptroller DiNapoli for Re-election

In a major development just days before the election, both leaders of the Satmar communities in Williamsburg, Rabbi David Niederman and Rabbi Moshe Indig, are endorsing Governor Kathy Hochul, Attorney General Letitia James and Comptroller Tom DiNapoli for re-election.

Rabbi David Niederman, executive director of the United Jewish Organizations of Williamsburg, and Rabbi Moshe Indig, executive vice president of the JCC of Williamsburg, officially endorsed Gov. Kathy Hochul for re-election, Letitia James for attorney general and Tom DiNapoli for state comptroller.

That puts the united Williamsburg bloc vote behind the Democratic slate ahead of the November election.

The endorsements come after years of working together between the Hochul administration and the Williamsburg Jewish community. The governor has also kept in close touch with local elected officials and askonim.

In September, Gov. Hochul joined Rabbi Niederman in Williamsburg to open a new kosher food pantry run with the Met Council before Rosh Hashanah. Attorney General James was also there. "We owe it to the governor, providing resources to our community to be able to deliver much needed social services and food," Rabbi Niederman said at the event.

“Governor Hochul has earned our support by delivering on issues that matter deeply to families: ensuring the continuation and independence of religious education, championing tougher penalties for hate crimes and antisemitism, strengthening protections for our schools and communities, expanding access to child care, and helping parents afford tuition. She listens to our community and follows through with action”

“I am proud to join fellow Williamsburg community leaders in endorsing Governor Hochul and our longtime friends, Attorney General Letitia James and Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli. We value their partnership and urge every eligible voter to make their voice heard”

“We have hakaras hatov, Rabbi Moshe Indig said. We remember who stands beside us, who has our community's back when it counts, and who our friends are that we can always count on. Governor Kathy Hochul, Attorney General Letitia James and Comptroller Tom DiNapoli have been those friends, and now we stand with them. We ask every eligible voter to show up for them at the ballot box. They have earned it”

Hochul faces Republican Bruce Blakeman, the Nassau County executive, in the race for governor. James is running against Republican Saritha Komatireddy. DiNapoli faces Republican Joseph Hernandez.

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3. Polls are open 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Early voting runs from Saturday, Oct. 24, to Sunday, Nov. 1.
