Waterfront Confusion: Man Eating Breakfast Along Williamsburg Waterfront Mistaken for Possible Jumper, Prompting Large Emergency Response
Yisroel R.
A large emergency response was triggered along the Williamsburg waterfront Monday morning after a Heimshe yingerman eating breakfast along the Williamsburg waterfront near Kent Avenue and South 8th Street was mistakenly believed to be a possible jumper.
The misunderstanding prompted a massive emergency response from Hatzolah, FDNY, NYPD Emergency Service Unit personnel, Marine Boat Units to the area as responders rushed to the waterfront, attempting to “save the jumper.”
But after arriving and assessing the situation, responders discovered that the man was simply sitting near the water enjoying his breakfast while taking in the last breaths of the fall season with some cool waves at the water, and was not in any way in danger.
The response was cleared shortly afterward once officials confirmed that the incident had been a misunderstanding.
