UJO Secures Additional Funding for New Building Plans

UJO Secures Additional Funding for New Building Plans

By Williamsburg 365 Staff

The UJO (United Jewish Organizations of Williamsburg and North Brooklyn), received more funding for their new office and services building on Bedford Ave.

For years, the UJO has been located at 32 Penn Street, a location that has long been too small for their needs. Now, they are working on transforming a building at 498 Bedford Avenue into a five-story office building, with multiple offices and meeting rooms on each floor. The project is estimated to cost at least $3 million.

The UJO received a $800,000 check from Senator Julia Salazar to build a much-needed extension to their offices. The new offices are said to be built at 498 Bedford Ave, combining two lots into one big project to house their services for the community and provide the UJO staff with much-needed additional space.

The announcement was made this morning on X, where the UJO wrote “Thank you @SalazarSenate for presenting us a check yesterday marking the 800K capital grant secured in the state budget for building our desperately needed new offices to expand services to the community. Thank you Senator for your strong support of the UJO and the community!”

This follows another significant donation of $800,000 received just a few weeks ago from Assemblywoman Emily Gallagher. At the time, the assemblywoman wrote on X: “Since 1966, @UnitedJewish has provided essential services to countless families in Williamsburg—but they're running out of space to keep up their success! That's why I am so honored to provide crucial capital funding to make their new office on Bedford Ave a reality.”
