Five Days After Global Outage: Delta Arilines Still Struggling with Flight Cancellations
By Idy Perl
Last Friday many airports and airlines were forced to cancel flights after the global Crowdstrike outage shut down systems. Although most airlines quickly got back on their feet, Delta is still experiencing cancellations five days later, leaving millions of passengers stranded.
“There’s no customer service whatsoever,” one Williamsburg365 reader reports. “There’s no one to talk to and planes are just sitting in place for days.”
Delta canceled almost 1,200 flights on Monday and an additional 440 flights today. The majority of the cancellations are at their base at the Atlanta airport, where unclaimed baggage has been piling up over the last few days. Passengers report that they are unable to cancel or reschedule their flights, and Delta personnel are not able to advise about refunds.
"While all other affected airlines have successfully resumed full service, Delta has struggled to get back on track and is falling short," the passenger added.
The Department of Transportation has announced that they are opening an investigation into Delta in response to the high volume of passenger complaints.
