Trump Announces Immigration Crackdown

President Donald Trump has started his new term with a focus on tough immigration policies, including mass deportation raids expected soon in New York City.
The president’s plans include Bringing back the “Return to Mexico” policy, which requires asylum seekers to wait in Mexico for their court hearings, shutting down an app that helped migrants apply for asylum at the border, and deporting people involved in gangs, cartels, and other crimes.
Rep. Nicole Malliotakis confirmed that New York City will be one of the first places targeted by Immigration and Customs Enforcement raids. “They want to remove dangerous people, and so do my constituents,” she said.
Another controversial move is Trump’s executive order to end birthright citizenship, which grants citizenship to anyone born in the U.S. This will likely face legal challenges, as it conflicts with the Constitution.
In our neighborhoods, many residents have noticed problems linked to illegal immigrants, such as robberies and other crimes. Some believe these new measures will help improve safety.
