Team Effort Between Chaveirim and Sanitation Leads to Remarkable Jewelry Recovery
By GY
Yesterday, Chaveirim received a call about valuable jewelry, including a ring, that had been mistakenly thrown into the garbage at Bedford Gardens.
Askun Moshe Weiser, who works closely with the Sanitation Department, was immediately contacted. Upon learning of the situation, he swiftly reached out to sanitation officials, who located the garbage truck that had collected the trash and ensured it was put aside before being processed.
Thanks to this quick intervention, Chaveirim volunteers rushed to the scene and began an intensive search through the truck’s contents. With remarkable teamwork and determination, the volunteers went through bag after bag until they successfully located the lost jewelry.
The items, worth several thousand dollars, were safely returned to their grateful owner — turning what could have been a devastating loss into a heartwarming community success.
This incident stands as a true example of community cooperation, highlighting the dedication of Chaveirim volunteers, the vital assistance of Askun Moshe Weiser, and the cooperation of the Sanitation Department and Waste Management. Together, they transformed a moment of panic into one of relief and gratitude.
