SATMAR REBBE CALLS ON KLAL YISROEL TO CHECK MEZUZAS, SPEAKS ON SIYEM HASHAS AND $250 SQF MAX IN KIRYAS YOEL AT CENTRAL CHOF ALEF SEUDA MOITZA SHABBOS

* The Satmar Rebbe, Rav Aharon Teitelbaum shlita, issued a clarion call for people to be more careful about kashrus of mezuzas and reiterated his call for affordable housing in Kiryas Joel at the annual Chof Alef Kislev celebration marking 80 years since the Divrei Yoel’s escape from war-torn Europe.

* The rebbe alerted the tens of thousands in attendance on Motzoei Shabbos that recently, people from Eretz Yisroel have flooded the market with mezuzas that are printed from a machine instead of written by a sofer. People may only purchase a mezuzah from the sofer who wrote it himself and must check existing mezuzas if they are kosher, the rebbe declared.

* The rebbe also extolled the chaburah who was about to complete Shas in the kehillah’s learning program, urging everyone to join for the upcoming cycle. He also reiterated his recent call for developers not to charge more than $250 a square foot when selling homes in the area around Kiryas Joel.
