Readers Write: Williamsburg Still Waiting for Garbage Pickup More Than a Week After Storm

Dear Editor,

Overflowing trash bags and full bins have been sitting on many Williamsburg sidewalks for over a week, with no garbage pickup reported on numerous blocks since the snowstorm.

The Department of Sanitation has officially blamed the delays on snow removal operations. But many residents say they have not seen garbage trucks or snow crews working in the area, which only increases frustration and concern that the neighborhood is being overlooked.

With regular collection still not restored, trash continues to build up in both residential and business areas. This is a quality-of-life issue, a health issue, and a basic service the City should be able to provide.

Williamsburg needs sanitation service restored immediately. Our streets shouldn’t be left in this condition more than a week after a storm.

Sincerely,

Rachel B.
