MTA Announces Weekend G Train Service Disruptions Due to Signal Upgrade Work
The MTA announced that G train service will be suspended on select weekends as crews work to modernize the line’s aging signal system.
According to the MTA, the G train will not operate between Bedford–Nostrand Avenues and Church Avenue during certain weekends while upgrades are underway. The work is part of a larger effort to replace the line’s original signal system, which dates back more than 90 years, with a modern communications-based train control system designed to improve reliability and efficiency.
During affected weekends, G train service will be suspended from 9:30 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday along the impacted section. For travel between Bedford–Nostrand Avenues and Hoyt–Schermerhorn Street, the MTA will operate free B93 shuttle buses. Riders traveling between Bergen Street and Church Avenue are encouraged to use the F train as an alternative.
The MTA has not yet released a specific schedule outlining which weekends will be impacted by the work. Commuters are advised to check the MTA app or website ahead of time for the latest service updates and plan accordingly.
