By Williamsburg 365 Staff
NYPD Hate Crimes Task Force and top brass met with Williamsburg Shomrim to discuss safety amid an uptick in hate crimes.
NYPD Captain Bekim Becaj of the Hate Crimes Task Force joined senior NYPD officials in a meeting with Williamsburg Shomrim to review the ongoing response.
Williamsburg has seen several recent hate crimes, including an incident where a perpetrator knocked the hat off an elderly passerby, and another on Friday in which a suspect wearing an Iranian flag assaulted multiple people.
In both cases, Williamsburg Shomrim worked to obtain footage identifying the suspects and capturing the incidents, which assisted the NYPD in the ongoing investigations.
NYPD Chief Richie Taylor, along with the 90th Precinct’s commanding officer and executive officer, also attended the meeting.
