No Known Threat, But NYPD on High Alert After Embassy Shooting in D.C.

By Y.M. Lowy

Two Israeli Embassy staff members, Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Milgrim, were fatally shot outside the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, D.C. The suspect, 30-year-old Elias Rodriguez from Chicago, was arrested at the scene and shouted Free, free Palestine during his capture. Authorities are investigating the incident as a targeted antisemitic attack. The shooting appeared to target Jews and Israelis, sending shockwaves across the country.

In response, the NYPD said it’s increasing security at Shuls and other Jewish institutions around New York City.

High visibility patrols, heavy weapons teams, and counterterrorism officers are now stationed at key locations.

Officials said there is no known threat to New York, but they’re taking no chances.
