New Waste Drop-Offs in New York City

New Waste Drop-Offs in New York City

By Y.M. Lowy

Starting December 26, 2024, New Yorkers will have more ways to get rid of special waste and old clothes. The Department of Sanitation’s Special Waste Drop-Off Sites will be open every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, giving residents a safe place to dispose of items that can’t go in the trash.

These sites will accept items like batteries, motor oil, light bulbs, paint, electronics, and e-cigarettes. Be sure to securely tape or bag batteries to keep them safe.

Five Sanitation garages will also have new bins for collecting old clothes.

The drop-off sites are open to NYC residents only. For more details, visit the Department of Sanitation website.
