A 26-year-old man is in critical condition after colliding with a sanitation truck at Bushwick Avenue in Bedford-Styvyusant. Both were turning right onto Flatbush Avenue when they collided and the moped driver was pinned under the truck.

Residents of the area report that this is an extremely dangerous part of Bushwick, and one that sees many accidents.

According to the DSNY, the truck was actually not in service to the department at the time. The statement from the sanitation department read as follows:

"The driver is not a City employee. This is a truck that was produced for DSNY, but had not yet been delivered to us; I believe it was being driven between the facilities of two vendors. As DSNY had not yet taken possession of the truck and had no involvement in the crash, there is no additional information we can provide."
