Governor Cuomo Receives Endorsement of Satmar Kehila

By Williamsburg 365 Staff

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, candidate for Mayor of New York City, today received the endorsement of the Satmar Kehila in Williamsburg, led by Rabbi Moishe Indig.

This marks the fourth Orthodox Jewish community to endorse Cuomo, joining the Far Rockaway Jewish Alliance, the Bobov community in Borough Park, and Crown Jewish United and the Crown Heights PAC, in backing Cuomo’s bid.

“I have a long and deeply personal relationship with the Satmar community in Williamsburg," Governor Cuomo said. "I very much appreciate the trust that Rabbi Moishe Indig and his community have placed in me. With antisemitism on the rise and hate crimes that it spawns escalating, action to thwart them is needed now more than ever. As Governor, I increased security at synagogues and signed the first in the nation anti-BDS law. Through words and deeds, we made it clear that New York had a zero tolerance for hate towards our Orthodox communities. As mayor, I will use the full power and resources of City government to protect our Jewish brothers and sisters by properly enforcing the law because no New Yorker should be targeted or victimized for their religious beliefs.”
