By Williamsburg 365 Staff
Councilmember Lincoln Restler paid a visit to the Chaveirim headquarters in Williamsburg to discuss urgent quality-of-life concerns with local leaders, primarily the growing rat problem plaguing parts of the neighborhood.
The discussion focused on the root causes of the rodent issue, including overflowing garbage and insufficient waste management. Ideas floated included increasing the frequency of trash pickups and improving container usage to prevent trash overflow. Restler shared that he plans to meet with the Department of Sanitation to explore practical steps and push for immediate improvements.
In addition to sanitation, Restler also acknowledged the importance of working with local exterminators in efforts to control the rodent population more effectively.
The conversation also shifted to the Broadway Triangle area, where repeated flooding has become a growing concern. The councilmember pledged to work with city agencies and community stakeholders to develop a real solution to the drainage and infrastructure problems in that zone.
