A 8-year-old child is in stable condition after being struck by a vehicle in a hit-and-run collision at the intersection of Harrison Avenue and Union Street.

The driver fled the scene immediately following the incident but was later spotted by members of Shomrim. Acting on the sighting, NYPD officers successfully intercepted and arrested the suspect at Kosciuszko Street and Marcy Avenue.

Hatzolah responded to the scene, treating the young victim before rushing them to Bellevue Hospital. Officials have since confirmed that the child remains in stable condition.

The NYPD has closed down surrounding streets near the crash site as the investigation continues. Highway units and Department of Transportation (DOT) Emergency Response crews remain on the scene to reconstruct the accident and investigate it.
