Brooklyn DA Gonzalez Visits Sullivan County DA Brian P. Conaty

By Idy Perl

During Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez’s visit to the Catskills last week, he met with Sullivan County District Attorney Brian Conaty. Thousands of Jews spend the summer months in Sullivan County, and the two met to discuss the concerns of Jews in their jurisdictions.

The meeting was arranged by Rabbi Naftule Moshe Indig and Rabbi Joel Friedman, Chaplain to both the Brooklyn and Sullivan County DAs.

The District Attorneys discussed a range of topics regarding their Jewish constituents, particularly focusing on the alarming increase in antisemitism since October 7th. The rise in crime targeting the Jewish community is concerning to both District Attorneys, and they explored various strategies and potential solutions to address and mitigate this troubling trend in both of their jurisdictions.

The safety of their communities is a top priority to Gonzalez and Conaty, and they affirmed that they would do, and are doing, everything in their power to keep Jews safe in the city and on vacation in the mountains.
