Brooklyn DA Eric Gonzalez Visits Sullivan County and Tours Jewish Communities

By Idy Perl

Last Thursday Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez, together with a delegation of askanim headed by Rabbi Naftuli Moshe Indig, in addition to Sullivan County Sheriff Mike Schiff and Undersheriff Eric Chaboty, visited several locations in the Catskills to meet with his constituents and see where they spend the summer months.

The first stop was at Camp Shalva boys camp, where the campers were honored to greet the exciting visitors. The campers welcomed them by performing a special march they had practiced for the occasion. Eric Gonzalez then spoke to the boys for a few minutes and was followed by remarks from some of the other guests. Gonzalez got a tour of the beautiful campgrounds and posed for photographs with the campers and staff.

He then visited the famous Ichud shul, where he spoke with some mispallelim, and then went to the Ichud cheder where he spent some time with the children.

Gonzalez then visited the new HCS resort, which took over the Raleigh Hotel for the summer. There he met the campers with special needs and the dedicated staff and toured the beautifully updated hotel and grounds.

Eric Gonzalez came to the summer home of Rabbi Naftuli Moshe Indig, where askiunim and community leaders met.

To finish off the day, Gonzalez stopped into the new upstate Gourmet Glatt, where he met and greeted shoppers and admired the large, beautiful supermarket.

All in all, it was an enjoyable trip both for Gonzalez and all the people he met, and neither will be forgetting it anytime soon.
