Brannan Receives Powerful Endorsement of Satmar and Orthodox Jewish Communities in Williamsburg

The Largest Orthodox Jewish Voting bloc in NYC is rallying behind Brannan for Comptroller
Justin Brannan, chair of the City Council’s Finance Committee and candidate for Comptroller of New York City, received the endorsement of the city’s largest Orthodox Jewish voting blocs, the Satmar community in Williamsburg, led politically by Rabbi David Niederman, together with a coalition of the main congregations in the area, including Pupa, Viznitz, Vien, Tzelim, Nitra, Krasna, Skver and Klausenburg.
“As someone who has dedicated my life to serving and protecting the needs of our community, I am proud to endorse Justin Brannan for Comptroller. Justin has shown a deep understanding of and respect for our community and recognizes that education is the key to ensuring our community’s cultural and religious freedoms endure,” said Rabbi David Niederman, Executive Director of the United Jewish Organizations of Williamsburg, Inc. “He has always listened with sincerity and acted with integrity, standing up for our safety, independence, and values. I urge all members of our community to support him in this important election.”
Rabbi David Niederman has led the United Jewish Organizations of Williamsburg since 1989, transforming it into a comprehensive community resource supporting over 70,000 individuals through services in housing, health, legal aid, education, and more. Under his leadership, UJO has become a key institution in Brooklyn, widely respected for its community advocacy, strategic planning, and partnerships with civic and political leaders. In addition to his role at UJO, Rabbi Niederman continues his long-standing humanitarian work with Rav Tov, protecting Jewish heritage worldwide, and advocating for religious rights and crime prevention within the Jewish community.
"I am deeply honored to receive the endorsement of the Satmar community, and this major coalition with Pupa, Viznitz, Vien, Tzelim, Nitra, Krasna, Skver, and Klausenburg, whose commitment to faith, family, and service strengthens the fabric of our city,” Brannan said. “Rabbi Niederman’s decades of leadership and advocacy for social services have uplifted tens of thousands, and his support means the world to me."
“As Comptroller, I will work every day to ensure the Jewish community—and all communities—feel safe, respected, and protected in New York City. The right to live according to one's faith, free from fear or interference, is a fundamental promise of this city. I look forward to continuing our partnership to safeguard the dignity and well-being of this vibrant community,” Brannan said.
