Bomb Threat at Public School Turns Out to Be False
By Y.M. Lowy
A Williamsburg middle school was locked down Monday after receiving a bomb threat.
The NYPD’s Emergency Service Unit responded to I.S. 49 at 223 Graham Ave. just before 12:30 p.m. The school got an anonymous call claiming there were two pipe bombs on the premises. Police searched the school but did not find any explosive devices, and no one was hurt.
New York City Public Schools issued a statement:
“The safety of our students and staff is always our top priority. Everyone is safe — NYPD quickly investigated this threat and deemed it unfounded.”
