BDE: R’ Shalom Yosef Gottlieb, Longtime Proprietor of Gottlieb’s Restaurant

We regret to inform you of the passing of Reb Shalom Yosef Gottlieb, a well-known personality in the Williamsburg community, an ardent Satmar chassid, and the owner of Gottlieb’s restaurant. He was 75 years of age. 

The niftar was born to his parents, Reb Zalka and Mrs. Rivkah Gottlieb, who opened the restaurant in Williamsburg 55 years ago. 

Reb Shalom Yosef was known for his ehrlichkeit and his smile to everyone.  

Sadly, he lost two of his children in his lifetime, R”l. 

Mr. Gottlieb was hospitalized with pneumonia about a week ago, and sadly returned his neshamah to its Maker in the early hours of this morning. 

The Levaye will take place 2pm at the Dezh Shul 172 Ross St.
