5G Now in G Train Tunnels Through Williamsburg
By Y.M. Lowy
AT&T and Boldyn Networks have activated 5G service in the tunnels along the G line, from Court Square in Queens to Bedford–Nostrand Avenue.
For anyone hopping on the train, that means fewer dead zones and faster data while traveling through Williamsburg and other stops along the line. John Emra, president of AT&T’s Atlantic Region, said the move helps “ensure reliable, high-speed 5G is part of the everyday transit experience for New Yorkers,” adding that AT&T is the first and only carrier to offer this service on the G line.
Boldyn Networks says the plan is to eventually expand 5G to all 418 miles of the MTA subway tunnels, making it easier for riders across the city to stay connected underground.
