Water Shutdown Scheduled on Lee Avenue and Wallabout Street This Week

By Y.M. Lowy

Residents and businesses in parts of Williamsburg should prepare for a scheduled water shutdown this week.

Water service will be interrupted Monday, February 23, Tuesday, February 24, and Wednesday, February 25, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM each day.

The shutdown will affect:

• Lee Avenue between Lorimer Street and Flushing Avenue

• Wallabout Street between Lee Avenue and Bedford Avenue

The temporary interruption is necessary to allow crews to install new 8-inch and 20-inch water mains as part of ongoing infrastructure upgrades. Once installation is complete each day, water service will be restored. A 24-hour confirmation notice is expected to be provided prior to the shutdown.

The Department of Design and Construction recommends that property owners or building managers shut off the main water valve in their building before the shutdown begins. This precaution can help prevent potential plumbing issues if sediment is released into the lines during the work.

Residents are advised to plan accordingly during the scheduled hours.
