Upcoming Closures on the Williamsburg Bridge
By Y.M. Lowy
Construction on the Williamsburg Bridge continues to impact traffic as part of NYCDOT’s ongoing rehabilitation project. New lane closures are scheduled from August 11 through August 18.
The Brooklyn-bound outer roadway will have one lane closed around the clock, 24/7, throughout the entire week.
The Brooklyn-bound inner roadway will also see one lane closed from Monday (8/11) to Friday (8/15) between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
On the Manhattan-bound side, either the inner or outer roadway will have one lane closed during the same weekday hours: Monday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
At least one lane in each direction will remain open at all times to keep traffic flowing. The bridge’s walkway and bikeway will continue to be narrowed at certain work zones for up to fifty feet, and both pedestrians and cyclists are urged to use caution when crossing.
