Two Vehicles Stolen Overnight in Williamsburg
Two vehicles were stolen in separate incidents early Wednesday morning in Williamsburg, prompting renewed calls from Shomrim for residents to take extra precautions in securing their cars.
The first theft occurred at approximately 2:00 a.m. near Marcy Avenue and Hewes Street, where two masked individuals were seen working on a vehicle for nearly thirty minutes before fleeing with a gray Honda Pilot (New York plate LSN-5689). Williamsburg Shomrim volunteers responded to the scene and are currently reviewing and tracking down video footage of the suspects.
Roughly an hour later, at around 3:00 a.m., a black Acura MDX (New York plate KZV-9872) was reported stolen near Penn Street and Bedford Avenue. Shomrim is also working on obtaining surveillance footage connected to this incident.
Police reports have been filed in both cases, and detectives from the NYPD 90th Precinct are investigating.
Shomrim’s Reminder to the Community
In light of these thefts, Williamsburg Shomrim is urging residents to take preventive measures:
• Always lock vehicles and ensure they are not left open.
• Remove keys from the car at all times.
• Avoid leaving expensive items or valuables inside.
• Consider installing or enabling a tracking device to increase the chances of recovery.
