TOMORROW: Historic Vien Hachnossas Sefer Torah
By Y.M. Lowy
The historic Vien Hachnossas Sefer Torah has already begun, starting with the Ksivas Sefer Torah at the Rebbe’s home. Generous donors, each having purchased a letter in the Sefer Torah, and Rabbonim, have been honored with the opportunity to personally inscribe their part in this monumental event.
The Rebbe will tonight conclude the final letters and then deliver a heartfelt drasha to his chassidim. This will be accompanied by inspiring words from the esteemed machanech, R’ Eliezer Yonah Silberman, and a shiur by R’ Mordechai Schiff.
The Sefer Torah procession will take place tomorrow, Sunday, at 2:30 PM in the streets of Williamsburg. The day will begin with a children’s program in the main Beis Medrash, afterward, the procession will begin at the Rebbe’s home at 191 Wilson Street, where the children will gather to eagerly await the Sefer Torah. The rest of the Kehilla will join in at Lee Avenue and Wilson Street to participate in this joyous occasion.
With music, singing, and dancing, the procession will move down Wilson Street to Bedford Avenue and then onto Taylor Street. The celebration will continue with spirited dancing in the main Beis Medrash at 27 Lee Avenue. At 5:00 PM, the Kehilla will gather for a seudas mitzvah in honor of the Torah at 184 Nostrand Avenue, at the girls’ school.
This monumental day will be remembered for years to come.
