Throop Corners Opens at 88 Throop Ave, Bringing Nearly 400 Affordable Homes to Williamsburg
By Y.M. Lowy
Throop Corners is a new affordable housing building with 140 units located at 88 Throop Avenue. It has officially opened and will provide nearly 400 affordable homes and over 10,000 square feet of community space.
Local groups have helped shape this project, led by Unified Neighborhood Partners. This group includes local organizations like the United Jewish Organization of Williamsburg.
The building has a workforce development center, runs on solar power, and uses a fully electric design. Residents will include individuals from Jewish, Hispanic, and African American communities as they work together to meet the growing need for stable, affordable housing in Williamsburg.
