Steeper Fines Proposed: NYC Parks Dept. Takes Aim at Illegal Dumping
By Williamsburg 365 Staff
In a bid to tackle the persistent issue of illegal dumping, the New York City Parks Department is proposing a significant increase in fines.
The new rule would raise the penalty for a first offense from $1,000 to $5,000. Repeat offenders, caught dumping illegally again within a year, would face a hefty $10,000 fine for each additional violation.
This proposal is part of a broader effort to address the growing concerns over the negative impact of illegal dumping on city parks and local neighborhoods.
The Parks Department is inviting public input on this proposed rule change, aiming to garner community support and ensure effective enforcement against illegal dumping practices.
