Shomrim: On Duty 24/7 to Bring Peace of Mind to the Community

With over 100 dedicated volunteers working around the clock, Shomrim has become a cornerstone of safety and security in Williamsburg. While the public often sees Shomrim responding to emergencies or patrolling the streets, there is far more happening behind the scenes than meets the eye.

This week-long campaign is dedicated to highlighting the many specialized divisions within Shomrim that work tirelessly to protect the community. Each department plays a vital role, requiring extensive training, coordination, and significant financial resources to operate effectively.

Shabbos Patrol

On Shabbos, when routine security services are limited, Shomrim deploys a fleet of vehicles staffed by trained security guards. These patrols monitor the streets throughout the day and night, ensuring the safety of families while preserving the sanctity and peace of Shabbos.

Search & Rescue

Shomrim’s Search & Rescue division consists of specially trained members prepared to respond to missing persons cases and emergency search operations. Time is often critical, and this team works swiftly and professionally to bring people home safely.

Nightly Patrol

Every night, Shomrim volunteers rotate shifts to patrol Williamsburg’s streets. Their presence serves as both a deterrent to crime and a rapid response force, keeping watch for suspicious activity while most of the community sleeps.

Community Affairs

From large communal gatherings to private events, Shomrim’s Community Affairs department works closely with organizers to provide security and coordination. Their efforts ensure that celebrations, events, and public affairs can take place safely and smoothly.

Tech & Surveillance
