Williamsburg Shomrim hosted senior NYPD Highway leadership at its headquarters for a working meeting focused on transportation concerns, traffic management, and public safety priorities impacting the community.
The meeting included Inspector Conor Wynne, Commanding Officer of the NYPD Highway Patrol, along with Daniel Shouldis, Commanding Officer of Highway District 2, and Jagdeep Singh, Commanding Officer of the Highway Collision Investigation Squad.
The discussion centered on day-to-day quality-of-life and safety issues on local streets — including traffic flow, enforcement challenges, collision trends, and coordination on community-wide safety initiatives. A key portion of the conversation also focused on bus safety, including protecting children during peak school hours, improving safety while kids are getting on and off school buses, and addressing dangerous driver behavior around buses and along common school routes.
Participants also reviewed how Shomrim’s neighborhood presence and rapid reporting can help support Highway’s broader mission of preventing serious crashes and improving roadway safety. Shomrim leaders said the meeting was productive and reinforced the importance of communication and cooperation between community safety organizations and the NYPD Highway units responsible for traffic enforcement and collision investigations.
