A 23-year-old man, Christian Millet, was arrested on Wednesday for the murder of his 65-year-old roommate, Edwin Echevarria.

Echevarria had been missing since February 2 and was only recently identified as the body found in a suitcase in the East River.

Millet, charged with second-degree murder, was taken into custody following a search warrant. This marks a rare homicide in the NYPD’s 7th Precinct.
