Overnight Ramp Closures from Williamsburg Street to BQE for Bridge Painting Project
By Williamsburg 365 Staff
The New York State Department of Transportation has announced a temporary closure of the entrance ramp from Williamsburg Street to the eastbound Brooklyn-Queens Expressway (I-278), set to begin on or around Saturday, May 10th, and continue through Monday, June 2nd.
The closures are scheduled during overnight hours to accommodate ongoing bridge painting operations beneath the Bedford Avenue Bridge. Specifically, the ramp will be closed:
- Weekdays: 12:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m.
- Saturdays: 12:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m.
- Sundays: 12:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.
Motorists are advised that detour signage will be in place directing traffic along Williamsburg Street to alternative access points for the eastbound BQE. Noise from the overnight work should be expected during the scheduled closures.
This work is part of NYSDOT’s $23.8 million bridge painting project taking place at multiple locations across New York City. The timeline may be adjusted due to inclement weather.
