NYPD to Beed up Presence Around Chanukah Celebrations Following Australian Horror

The New York Police Department has reached out to community leaders in the aftermath of the terrible attacks on a Chanukah celebration in Sydney, Australia, in which ten people were murdered, and dozens more injured, promising to increase their patrols at Jewish sites around the city. 

"We are aware of the terrible terror attack in Australia and will have increased presence at synagogues and sensitive locations around the city," officers from the NYPD's 90th precinct, which covers Williamsburg, told Williamsburg365. 

They added that they're in touch with their counterparts in Australia, and see no imminent threat to our communities, but will neverthless beef up their presence out of an abundance of caution. "Brooklyn North will be providing additional Police presence- visiting all synagogues/ Houses of Worship and any Menorah lightings throughout Brooklyn North," they said.
