NYPD Releases Details on Fatal Bedford Avenue Crash

The NYPD has released official details regarding the fatal collision that occurred early Tuesday morning at the intersection of Myrtle Avenue and Bedford Avenue.

According to investigators, the crash happened around 4:40 a.m. when an unidentified male riding a gas-powered moped ran a red light while traveling eastbound on Myrtle Avenue. The moped collided with a Subaru sedan driven by a 51-year-old man traveling northbound on Bedford Avenue.

The impact threw the moped rider onto the roadway, where he was struck by a Nissan sedan driven by a 22-year-old man. EMS transported the victim to NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County, where he was pronounced deceased.

Both vehicle operators remained at the scene and were not injured. No arrests have been made, and the NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad is continuing its investigation.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending family notification.
