An NYPD officer, assigned with the 79th Precinct, died while serving overseas in Kuwait, the NYPD said.
Officer Sorffly Davius served in the 42nd Infantry Division in the U.S. Army National Guard while he suffered a medical episode and passed away.
“Our state mourns the loss of Major Sorffly Davius, who died on March 6 at Camp Buehring in Kuwait while serving his country,” Gov. Kathy Hochul said in a statement. “Major Davius was the ‘Citizen Soldier’ in every sense. A dedicated NYPD officer and decorated Army veteran, he spent his career protecting others.”
