Brooklyn-Bound Outer Roadway of Williamsburg Bridge to Close Overnight for Repairs

Brooklyn-Bound Outer Roadway of Williamsburg Bridge to Close Overnight for Repairs

By Williamsburg 365 Staff

The NYC Department of Transportation (NYCDOT) will continue rehabilitation work on the Williamsburg Bridge beginning Monday night, March 9, with overnight closures of the Brooklyn-bound outer roadway.

According to officials, the roadway will be fully closed weeknights from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., Monday through Friday, and the closures are expected to continue for approximately four weeks through April 3.

During the overnight closures, trucks will not be permitted to use the Brooklyn-bound outer roadway and must instead use the Manhattan Bridge as an alternate route.

Detours will be in place to guide truck traffic, including routes from Essex Street and Delancey Street as well as Clinton Street and Delancey Street.

Transportation officials say the temporary closure is necessary to allow crews to safely carry out ongoing rehabilitation work on the bridge.

Drivers traveling in the area during overnight hours are advised to plan ahead, follow posted detours, and allow for additional travel time while the work is underway.
