New Residential Development Bringing a Fresh Look to Myrtle Avenue

A new look is taking shape at the corner of Myrtle Avenue and Spencer Street, where a ten-story residential development is expected to bring 38 new apartments to the neighborhood.

The building at 703 Myrtle Avenue will feature a modern, light-colored exterior with rows of balconies and upper floors set back from the street. The design gives a glimpse of the change ahead for the corner, with completion anticipated in June 2027.

The project has evolved along the way. Earlier proposals called for 54 apartments, while newer filing reports describe a ten-story building with 38 units.

The corner property was purchased by Abie Weiss for $10.8 million in 2025. At the time of the sale, Cushman & Wakefield, which handled the transaction, said the buyer planned a mix of condominiums and rental apartments.

The development follows a rezoning that allowed housing and commercial space on land previously zoned for manufacturing. The approximately 8,620-square-foot property is now being transformed for residential use, bringing new housing to this stretch of Myrtle Avenue.
