New Light Installed at Busy Williamsburg Street and Bedford Avenue Intersection
By Y.M. Lowy
A new light has been installed at the intersection of Williamsburg Street and Bedford Avenue, and the city moved surprisingly fast. Just two weeks ago, Williamsburg365 reported that the light was expected to be added within two months, but it’s already up.
The intersection has long been a concern. Several years ago, the UJO reached out to the Department of Transportation after numerous accidents and near misses, especially during the dark winter months. The need became more urgent after a recent incident in which the Biksad Rav was knocked over at the poorly lit corner.
City officials confirmed the area would be better illuminated, and yesterday the new light was installed. Special thanks go to Askan Sam Stern, who coordinated with Keith Bray, Brooklyn Borough Commissioner, as well as askanim R’ Moshe Weiser and R’ Pinny Ringel for their involvement in making the intersection safer.
