A multi-car accident involving multiple vehicles occurred on the Brooklyn-Queens expressway on Thursday morning, while the roads were slippery with rain from New York’s first rainfall in over a month.

Two pickup trucks and two SUVs crashed on the westbound lanes of the BQE, not far from Williamsburg. Footage of the aftermath of the crash showed several smashed cars and one vehicle that had overturned.

Emergency services responded to the scene and transported 8 victims to the hospital. One elderly driver was pronounced dead in the hospital, and another victim is in critical condition.
