Mexican Navy Ship Towed to Navy Yard for Repairs
By Y.M. Lowy
Friday morning, the ARM Cuauhtémoc, the Mexican Navy training ship that struck the Brooklyn Bridge last week, was safely towed from Pier 36 to the Brooklyn Navy Yard, where it will begin repairs.
The move required detailed coordination between city, federal, and international teams, including the U.S. Coast Guard, NYPD Harbor, and the Government of Mexico. Navigating the East River with a vessel of that size called for careful planning.
The move follows the fatal crash that killed two sailors. The ship is now set to undergo repairs at the Navy Yard.
