Mayor Eric Adams Discusses Immigration After Meeting with Border Czar
By Y.M. Lowy
Following a meeting with Border Czar Tom Homan, Mayor Eric Adams held a press conference today to discuss key issues surrounding New York City’s migrant population and public safety.
“We are not going to be a safe haven to those who commit violent acts,” Adams kept reiterating. He made it clear that while New York City will continue to welcome immigrants who follow the law, it will not tolerate criminal behavior, whether from citizens or migrants.
Adams stressed that he would use his executive powers to target dangerous individuals, regardless of their immigration status. “We have a responsibility to protect all New Yorkers,” he said, underlining that his top priority is keeping the city safe for everyone.
While addressing public safety concerns, the mayor also reiterated that migrants have a right to healthcare, public protection, and education for their children. However, Adams made it clear that the city would not be a haven for violent immigrants.
“Our goal here is to keep New Yorkers safe,” he concluded, emphasizing that protecting residents is his foremost concern.
While Williamsburg has faced significant challenges due to the migrant crisis, residents are looking forward to some relief and renewed hope.
