Mayor-Elect Mamdani to Meet President Trump in Oval Office on Friday Despite Weeks of Sharp Attacks
By Yisroel R.
New York City Mayor-elect Zohran Mamdani and President Trump have agreed to meet tomorrow, Friday, in the Oval Office, despite the fact that the two have been political enemies throughout and after the campaign.
Throughout the race, President Trump repeatedly accused Mamdani of being a “communist” and warned that he would “destroy the city.” That continued today when Trump confirmed the meeting on Truth Social, writing, “Communist Mayor of New York City, Zohran ‘Kwame’ Mamdani, has asked for a meeting. We have agreed that this meeting will take place at the Oval Office on Friday, November 21st. Further details to follow!”
At a press conference in City Hall Park, Mamdani addressed the upcoming meeting directly. “Although I have much disagreements with the president, I view this meeting as an opportunity to find common ground to make New York City more affordable,” he said
Mamdani added that his priority remains helping New Yorkers facing rising costs. “I’ve said multiple times in this campaign, I will work with anyone who can help the over 8 million people that call this city home.”
The meeting is scheduled for tomorrow in the Oval Office.
