Mass Protest Planned Outside Israeli Consulate in NYC Against Drafting Yeshiva Students

At the call of the Satmar Rebbe, shlit”a, along with leading rabbonim in the U.S., a large-scale protest is scheduled to take place this Monday outside the Israeli Consulate in Manhattan.

The demonstration, described as the opening battle of a bigger campaign, will voice the cry of the chareidi community worldwide against the Israeli military’s ongoing efforts to forcibly draft yeshiva students into the army.

The Satmar Rebbe recently delivered a fiery address at Camp Rav Tov, decrying the unprecedented danger facing bnei Torah in Eretz Yisroel. He warned that the time has come when, as foretold by the Rebbe Reb Yoel, zt”l, “a chareidi Yid will no longer be able to remain in Eretz Yisroel.”

In recent weeks, Israeli authorities have intensified the draft crackdown, sending tens of thousands of induction notices to every single bochur in the country, setting up checkpoints, and raiding homes to arrest those who refuse to enlist. Dozens of incidents have been reported, including the recent arrest of three bochurim who have been imprisoned in military jails. Tensions flared further when police violently arrested protesters opposing the desecration of ancient graves in Yehud.

The upcoming Manhattan protest aims to show that the chareidi community abroad will not stand idly by while core principles of Torah life are attacked in Eretz Yisroel. Despite the summer vacation season, organizers expect thousands to attend, including kollel yungeleit, bnei Torah, and community leaders from across the greater New York area.

Event organizers have already coordinated with the NYPD and obtained the necessary permits.
