By Y.M. Lowy

A manhole fire at 101 North 5th Street in Williamsburg caused dangerously high carbon monoxide levels, making it necessary to evacuate two nearby six-story residential buildings last night.

Emergency responders, including FDNY, Con Edison, and NYPD, quickly addressed the situation. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

Residents were evacuated as a precaution, and the area was ventilated until it was deemed safe to return.
